5 Things to Consider This Week…3/18/19

What I’m working on – Last week marked the start of a transition week for me. A transition from building to celebrating, and now this week, back to maintaining. As I get older, I’m finding these transitions weeks are the hardest for me because my routine has been off for so many days in a row and getting “back to it” takes a lot of energy. If I have one flaw, and I have many, it’s having the tenacity to maintain a routine. I’m really looking forward to jumping back into the Pep Rally Board and setting up some shop meetings this week. More to come on both of those this week!

Something I’m Pondering — Last week I posed the question at the Manager Meeting; What can we genuinely be the best in the world at? We had a great conversation and a lot of great answers came up, but the one that stuck with me was the idea of Pizza. Can we be the best in the world at Pizza? Could we be? Should we try? We ended the conservation with the conclusion, “why WOULD we even try?” Now, that sounds kind of shitty to “not even try”, but here was the thought behind it. We’re never going to be “the best pizza in the world”. It’s like trying to be the best candy in the world. There are simply too many varieties and people like what they like. People are emotional about pizza. Passionate. People have an idea of their favorite pizza and its usually based around what they grew up with. We decided though, what we can be the best in the world at is being the best place in the world TO GO GET pizza. Our pizza has to be good! I personally think we have amazing pizza, but I think we are the truly the best place in the world to go get pizza. See, now it encompasses everything; our customer service, our Piesan experience, our brand, our restaurant design, everything we do AROUND pizza. That, is our north star!

What I’m reading — Built to sell is going to be a quick read. I’m happy about that because I’m not really into it so far. I see the lessons, but it’s a parable-style book and those are just not the type of stories I dig.

What I’m listening to or watching lately — Screw you guys, but I’ve been listening to Ariana Grande lately. Since her one song, “Got No Tears Left To Cry” plays at the shops about every 8 songs, I’ve actually started liking it and dived into her music. One of my personal mantras is “always listen to new music”. I find that it’s a way to keep up with new trends and culture. So if you see me walking around this week humming Ariana, it’s because I can’t get that damn song out of my head!

Something I’m into lately— Puzzles and Chess. These are two things I used to absolutely love, but haven’t really touched in a while. Recently, Rachael and I were given a puzzle and had a really pleasant time putting it together. I feel like an old fuck just typing that sentence, but it’s like trimming the leaves of a bonsai tree. Anyone play chess? Hit me up!

Have a wonderful week, all!
