Hello Friends!
In the spirit of Tim Ferris’ “5 Bullet Friday”, his weekly newsletter detailing the things he’s working on or “into” at the moment, I decided to begin doing my own version to let everyone know what’s going on in my world.
What I’m working on — The Pep Rally Center. This is a board with eight sections that will function as the informational hub of each restaurant. The idea is to have a place for the managers to conduct the Pep Rallies (pre-shift meeting) at. The sections will include; the Pierarchy Chart, the Partner Pledge and Piesan Promise, Our Mission, Vision and Values, Special Announcements, A calendar of events, The weekly shop number/scorecard, and a HR Center. There will also be a place for weekly challenges and focus areas. This is all part of the CULTURAL REVOLUTION project I started last month.
Something I’m behind on — The 2019 Strategic Plan. I wanted to have this out by now, but Cincy is a time-consuming lady… I hope to have this wrapped up and out to everyone by the end of March.
What I’m reading — Good to Great by Jim Collins. This is one of those “you must read if you’re in business” books. It’s parallels a number of companies, half of which made the leap from Good to Great and the other half whom didn’t. It’s extremely well researched and data based. I’m about half way through and I can’t put it down. Biggest takeaways so far: What are we deeply passionate about? What can we be the best in the world at? What drives our economic engine?
What I’m listening to — I haven’t stopped listening to Christopher Cross in the better part of two weeks. …RIDE LIKE THE WIND!
Something I’m into lately— Driving to Cincinnati. I’m totally serious about this! Since I’ve been driving back and forth so much lately, I’ve decided to not listen to any radio or podcasts or anything and just sit in silence and think to myself. It’s been amazing. I think it’s rare that we purposefully make ourselves take the time to be alone with our own thoughts. It’s so easy to distract ourselves with music or podcasts or youtube. It been transforming.
